    The Locations show 2007

Greater San Francisco Bay Area film commissions--from San Francisco to Monterey--showed off their locations and film assets at the Locations Tradeshow in Santa Monica in April.

Locations is the key tradeshow dedicated to world-wide film sites. Approximately 3,400 film industry professionals came to the show, looking for potential film, commercial, TV and still shoot locations.

In the California pavilion area were the Berkeley Film Office, Monterey County Film Commission, San Francisco Film Commission, San Mateo Film Commission, and the Vallejo/Solano County Film Office.

The Bay Area film commissions work together to assist film productions and help them find their locations within California.

Check with your local film office for info about locations for your project. They work collaboratively so you can have an instant network.

It's free! All the local film offices are listed in The Propville Directory; keyword "film commissions".

What Happened on the Bus tour 5.12.07(see photos)

    When is the next ride?

    Lee speaks
Great fun, fantastic food, a cool bus and the best production peeps in the region. We all had a memorable experience on the bus! Visiting local vendors; Blackwell Casting,

4th Street Studios, ACT Costumes and private tour at Britex Fabrics. Getting a sense of the state of the industry from Lee Utterbach Cameras and Blow-up Lab, sneaking a back stage tour of the vendors you use most often.

Lunch at San Francisco Antique Mall and an incredible presentation at Figureplant and Prop Co-op.

Never a dull moment, there was educational commentary during the ride from Brena Bailey of the San Mateo Film Office and Cathryn Blum, one of our favorite location scouts.

    Jacque Barsotti
Jacque Barsotti from Suite Treatments, jumped on board with greening tips and strategies for production and events.

And, just to be sure no one left empty-handed, there were party favors from Arbonne Swiss Cosmetics, Michael Thompson Framing, FilmTapeWorld and incredible sweets from Little Laura. Most of these participants are listed in the Propville Directory at your fingertips.

Next D&P: The Next Propville Dog & Pony Show ® is scheduled for Saturday August 4th.

If you are a vendor who would like to be considered as a "stop" or have a product or service you would like to share with the bus riders, please email us. Last tour was sold out and vendors' response was off the charts!

Carol Covington from The Blow Up Lab... "I met Rebecca Nicholls at the lunch stop on the bus tour.
    Blowup Lab
Rebecca mentioned needing props, drops, and signage graphics for two Summer of Love concerts she is designing and producing in San Francisco this July & August. Coincidentally, The Blow Up Lab was the next vendor stop on the Dog & Pony Tour so the Owner, Frank McGrath and I were able to show Rebecca all the new technologies available for her kind of project since the LAB is now 100% digital operation and could give her numerous options to print all the materials for her displays."

"Wow. Thanks Propville for listing our workshop, I couldn't believe the instantaneous response. You have some loyal followers over there at Propville- an active village indeed!" …..Linda Russell, Mugshots Photography

If you're a registered Propville vendor and have a tale of success, please submit it for possible exposure in the next Propville Post. susan@propville.com
