***Help Young People Write Autobiographical
Stories
and Create Mini Movies!
Streetside Stories is a nonprofit arts
education organization that uses
storytelling to value and cultivate young
people's voices, foster
educational equity and build community,
literacy and arts skills. Streetside
Stories uses storytelling, theater and digital
storytelling to teach middle
school students how to write autobiographical
stories. We work in 10 San
Francisco public middle schools with over 1000
students in the classroom and
in after-school programs. 60% of the students
Streetside Stories serves are
low-income, 95% are people of color, with many
immigrant youth for whom
English is a second language. The year
culminates in the production an
anthology and a DVD of student stories.
