The San Francisco Bay Area based Propville Directory is the brainchild of working professionals in the prop, wardrobe film and photography production worlds. We're busy, just like you. We receive calls every week from people who want props, costumes, locations and production help. Until now, an extensive list of those things did not exist in one convenient source. Now there is the Propville Directory.
The Propville Directory can make your search and seizure of props, costumes, locations and expendables easier. Here's how:
Sources change ALL THE TIME. The Propville Directory is updated quarterly and has customer support, via e-mail and a toll free pager.
We're current, our listings are fresh. The sources are all linked to "Yahoo maps". If you're part of a visiting crew, we can help you get around The San Francisco Bay Area (A laminated tri-fold map is also a very handy tool, available at any big chain bookstore). We are also linked to databases in other cities, in case you're from the SF Bay Area but a working on a project in LA, for example.
The sources in the Propville Directory are field tested, not just a compilation of the Yellow pages. The members of the CREW section have been verified and references checked. Again, we truly appreciate member feedback about our vendors, on everything from courtesy to availability. It's all about communication, Baby!
About the Business Building section.
Business Building is the place where we list vendors who have goods and services to enhance your business. has everything from Professional Organizations like the APA (Advertising Photographers of America) to great accountants who are familiar with the idiosyncrasies of our profession, and where the best deal on portfolio materials or massages can be found. Also, venues to recycle or receive free materials.
The Green Factor:
More than green, it's your community. One world, one love. There is a huge amount of waste in the film and advertising worlds (yes, we could feed a country!). One of the goals of Propville.com is to educate its members on how we can reuse, and recycle the materials. Spread it around!! As for construction materials and household items, agencies like Habitat for Humanity always need donations. Be persistent, giving isn't always easy, but is always worthwhile. Many of these organizations are listed in Business builders.
An educational feature, appearing in the Propville Directory is, Tricks of the Trade.
An editorial forum where the techniques we learn on any given project, can be shared. Everything from accounting tricks to fitting secrets from wardrobers and interviews with location scouts and make-up artists. We encourage subscriber/vendor participation in this neighborhood of Propville.
